Vitali has a 17-year record of excellence in boxing. WBA Intercontinental champion. He won WBO, WBC and Ring Magazine Heavyweight world champion titles. WBC Eternal World Heavyweight Champion. In 2018 he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Also, Vitali is a six-time world champion in kickboxing.
He finally retired from boxing in 2013 and turned to politics to tackle corruption, lawlessness and contempt for ordinary people’s interests. In 2010 Vitali established the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform (Udar) political party. Two years later he started his MP term as his party won the 2012 Ukrainian parliamentary elections.
Vitali was one of the leaders of the Revolution of Dignity and won mayoral elections in 2014. In autumn 2015, he was re-elected as the Kyiv mayor. In 2020 local elections Klitschko won the mayoral race again in the first round.
In 2016 he was elected as the chairman of the Association of Ukrainian Cities.
Vitali was awarded the Hero of Ukraine title, the highest national award and holds other national and foreign awards.
He holds a Ph.D. in sports science.
